Computer Specialist
Hi, I'm Bruce Perkins, and this is my creative hub—Inventing Minds. Here you'll discover a diverse range of projects that I've either developed independently or collaborated on.
Consultant
With extensive experience in assisting individuals and organizations with diverse projects and computer solutions, I have honed my skills as a top-tier consultant in the technology field. My ability to pinpoint areas needing attention and devise effective problem-solving strategies sets me apart.
Administrator
Managing this website has honed my administrative skills, from performing backups and updates to mastering new systems and software. I lead a diverse team with expertise in programming, graphic design, and audio recording, enhancing collaboration through tools like Team Foundation Server and Git repositories.
Developer
As a developer, I've mastered various programming languages, including C#, C/C++, Java, and PHP, across platforms like Windows, Linux, and Android. My journey began with homebrew applications for the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP), starting with a Wake-on-LAN app to remotely start computers. Following this, I developed a tic-tac-toe game featuring an AI opponent and a unique Sudoku puzzle game using colors instead of numbers.
Database Manager
In software development, understanding databases is crucial, and over the years, I've gained substantial expertise in this area. I'm well-versed with MS SQL and MySQL database engines and management tools, proficiently using both their user interfaces and writing Structured Query Language (SQL) scripts manually. Collaborating with skilled database managers has allowed me to acquire numerous valuable tips and tricks, enhancing my ability to effectively manage and optimize databases.
Graphics Designer
For any application, whether web or desktop, custom graphics are essential to avoid a dull appearance. Over the years, I've crafted a diverse array of visuals, from simple textures to intricate logos. My education includes classes in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, tools that have significantly contributed to my skillset. Additionally, I've been utilizing GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) for many years—it's a robust, free alternative capable of performing tasks similar to Photoshop.
